Welcome
This is my website. I go by the name Kaverian (pronounced kəvɛɹiːən) .
The primary purpose of this website is to act as storage for written content, notes, and ongoing projects. Over time, it has also functioned as an archive in which older material is retained rather than replaced. This is useful for tracking the development of ideas, including where initial thoughts were expressed and how explanations were later refined or expanded.
Much of the text is written with a particular topic or question in mind, although some pages exist mainly as a record of a line of thought or a series of observations. Not all content is intended to represent a finished or final position. In many cases, writing is used as a way of thinking through an idea rather than presenting a completed result.
In addition to written material, I occasionally upload educational video content to YouTube. This content is not required for understanding the topics discussed on this website, nor is it closely tied to specific pages here. The videos function as an additional format rather than a replacement for the written material. They can be found on my YouTube channel here.
What the site contains
There is no standard format or fixed length for entries on this site. Some pages are short and focused, while others are longer and attempt to provide a more complete overview of a subject. In some cases, maps or other visual aids are used where written explanation alone would be less clear or unnecessarily indirect.
Much of the content relates to language, including variation between dialects, language change over time, and relationships between different linguistic forms. However, the site is not organised around a hierarchical or structured progression, and it does not assume that material will be read in any particular order.
Topics tend to recur over time, sometimes approached from different perspectives or with varying levels of detail. This reflects the ongoing nature of the work: the process is not finished, even though the material is presented publicly. Older pages are generally left unchanged, even when newer information revises or contradicts them.
- Languages and dialects
- Patterns of language change and variation
- Visual representations such as maps and diagrams
- Explanations that prioritise clarity over brevity
Writing material out in this way serves a practical purpose. It allows ideas to be examined more closely, assumptions to be made explicit, and gaps in understanding to be identified. Keeping this process visible also makes it easier to return to earlier work and adjust it in light of new information or reconsideration.
Using the site
The website is not highly structured. Articles can be read on a standalone basis, and there is no required starting point. Some pages assume a degree of background knowledge, while others can be read with minimal prior familiarity with the subject matter.
Navigation is intentionally simple. Readers can read individual posts, browse older entries, or move between related articles. Over time, connections between recurring subjects and themes may become more apparent. In this sense, the site functions as a collection of related thoughts rather than a single, unified project.
Overall, the site is best understood as an ongoing record. It is not complete, nor is it intended to present a definitive account of its subject matter. Instead, it documents a continuing process of reading, writing, and revision.
Latest Video
This is my most recent video, where I explore a topic I've been thinking about lately. Many videos either expand on something I've written here or serve as a starting point for future posts.
If you prefer visual explanations over text, this is the best place to start. Graphics, maps, and examples often make concepts easier to understand.
