About the Webmaster

Hello. I go by Kaverian (pronounced kəvɛɹiːən). I am the sole webmaster, writer, and maintainer of this site.

This website is intentionally simple. I maintain it by hand and treat it as a long-term personal archive rather than a polished product. Pages are written directly in HTML and updated as my understanding of various topics evolves.

Interests

My primary interest is linguistics, particularly:

  • Dialect continua and mutual intelligibility
  • Historical language development
  • Language classification and mapping
  • Clear explanations without oversimplification

I am especially interested in how languages blur into one another across space and time, and how social, historical, and geographic factors shape speech communities.

Why this site exists

Writing helps me think. This site exists primarily as a place to organise ideas, test explanations, and document projects over time. Some pages are informal notes, others are longer essays or visual explorations.

Nothing here should be considered final or authoritative. Pages may be revised, expanded, or rewritten entirely as my thinking changes.

Other work

In addition to this site, I also produce educational videos on YouTube, often covering similar topics in a more visual format.

You can find my YouTube channel here: @Kaverian

Videos on my channel usually are expansions on what I write on this website, with context and stuff in the videos.
